This Week in Grade 1CC

This week we started our unit about Communication. Our class will inquire into the different types of communication systems and how people use them to connect locally and globally. We will be inquiring into effective communication through role-plays and hands on exploration activities.

Thank you to all the parents who sent us their used cell phones and telephones. The children will use them as learning tools to develop help better understanding of how certain devices allow people to communicate with each other. Please continue sending us your used communication devices after the holiday so the children will have enough devices to share around. You could either donate them to the class or lend them to us through the duration of the unit. Please make sure to label the device you send to school if you would like to get it back at the end of our unit of inquiry.

If your occupation is related to our unit and you would like to come to our class to be our guest speaker please let me know so we can schedule your visit.

Is it possible to communicate with each other if we speak in different languages? The children were paired up with someone who speaks another language and worked on a project, expressing their feelings and ideas in their Mother Tongue.
