Grade 1 had an amazing
journey inquiring into the unit, Express Ourselves. Next week we will begin
unpacking our new unit of inquiry, Oceans. We will be inquiring about how
we use the oceans and our responsibilities to help keep conserve resources from
the oceans.
Highlights of the week:
Character Study
The children created their
chosen characters for the fictional stories they will be writing next week.
Adam Lehrhaupt
Grade 1 did a Skype interview
with a children’s book author, Adam Lehrhaupt.
Exploring 3-D shapes
Our class started creating our 3-D shape models inspired by the 3-D trash we have been collecting in class.
Exploring Symmetry
Students created their symmetrical shape designs using pattern blocks. Well done, Grade Ones!
Beach Dress-Up Day
On Tuesday, we will be doing an activity related to our new unit of inquiry about Oceans. Please have your child come to school on this day dressed in their best beach outfit (beach shorts, sundress for the girls, straw hats, sunglasses and flip-flops).
NO swimsuits, please!
REMINDERS:
· We have swimming every Monday and PE on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
· Readers and Reading Log: Readers and reading logs need to be sent back to school daily.
· Pick–Up: You need to call or email Chantha in the ES office if there are changes in your child’s pick-up arrangement. If you are leaving the campus before 2:30 pm you also need to collect a gate pass (from the office) to be able to exit the school with your child. If your child is going home sick, the nurse will give you a gate pass when you collect your child from the clinic.
· These are the things that your child needs to bring to school daily:
yellow folder
book and reading log
water bottle, snack and a hat
Children need to have a hat to be able to play on the field or participate during outdoor P.E activities.
· Please remind your child of their After School Activity for each day.
Have a great weekend!
