This Week in Grade1CC

Grade 1 spent the week gathering and organizing information for their research project about ocean life. Our class also inquired into how humans use the oceans and how it affects ocean plants and animals. The children are clearly making connections to our unit of inquiry.  During our discussions, our class suggested that we think of solutions to help address some of the issues that affect the oceans.

In math, we inquired into different ways to measure. The children made predictions and measured capacity using different measuring containers. We continue to explore fractions through sharing and equal partition of wholes and sets or groups of objects.

In literacy, we have been reading and writing poems to celebrate poetry week. The children wrote rhyming and acrostic poems about oceans.

Highlights of the week:

Exploring Fractions
We are exploring fractions through problem solving.
Grade 1 Wall Aquarium
Stop by to see our amazing wall aquarium! The children did a research on their favorite ocean creatures and also painted the most beautiful 3-D looking pictures to go with their research.

Exploring Capacity

Grade 1 had so much fun doing some outdoor math explorations! The children did their predictions and measuring activity. Well done, Grade 1!

Children need to have a hat to be able to play on the field or participate during outdoor P.E activities.
·      Please remind your child of their After School Activity for each day.

Have a great weekend!
